We all understand, as webmasters, we wish to have our websites on top of the SERPs as high as possible. Why? This is because if the keyword you targeted is a profitable one, you will then gain income from it. But how do we get to the top? Here are 10 tips that you can follow without much efforts.

Tip No. 1

Optimize your website for readers, not for search engine. Search Engines are used to serve readers by find websites that are most relevant to their search. So, if you optimize a website for the search engine, not for the readers, it will eventually lose out to others who are creating quality content.

Tip No. 2

Research your keywords intensively. Research it again and again. Use different tools. (All tools I used can be found here). Compile the list of keywords and use them in different pages. Do not use general keywords like “Money” or “Insurance”

Tip No. 3

Design and categorize your website properly. When you’re creating your website or building it, you might find more areas that you might wanna cover to gain more profit. Without a good design or architecture, your website will looks like in a mess and it will cause readers to be frustrated. Recently, there is a rumor saying that good architecture can be a scoring point in Search Engines.

Tip No. 4

Make a crawler-friendly website. Crawlers are robots from Search Engines that they come to your website and collect content. However, these robots do not understand how to fill up forms, can’t see JavaScript links and menus. But this doesn’t mean you cannot have all those in your website! You absolutely can! However, you might want to consider using the NoScript tags to help the crawlers to navigate your website.

Tip No. 5

Label your links and images with alt tag. This will give the robots a good idea what is the links and image about. Remember, these robots can’t see images.

Tip No. 6

Write content that are targeted for the keywords. Choose a range of keywords, they can be a mixture or a single one, depending on how you want to cover the topic, and write a rich content for those keyword/s.

Tip No. 7

Collaborate the keywords into the title of the web page. For example, if you want to talk about Search Engine Optimization with PageRank, the suggested web page title is “PankRank of Search Engine Optimization Explained”. This is a good title

Tip No. 8

Make sure that your website is a link worthy one. This is called link baiting. Having good content will invite others to link up with your website and therefore, increasing your SERPs with more inlinks

Do not target only one keyword and stick with it with the rest of your life. Do spread your keywords to the smaller ones before you target the big ones. This will follow if you do it correctly, one step at one time

Do not register new domains unnecessarily. Remember, domain age is a factor when Google comes to trust your website. Google will “sandbox” your website if they see anything suspicious about it.
