The word “pwned” simply means to win or to conquer. And I used that in my title cause I believe you can do that if you understand this post.
Google ranks webpages based on 2 main factor, content and links. But not both have the same share. As good content will have good links, more shares are giving to links. If your website has good content, it basically will attract more links, and this is why Google place more shares on links.
Anchor text
Anchor text is one of the high important factor in linking. A simple example is by keying “click here” into Google and see the results yourself. If you notice, Adobe do not optimize anywhere in the website for the keyword, “click here”. And yet it can rank first out of the billions websites. The only reason behind it is linking. It has over 18millions of links as from Yahoo! Site Explorer.
Having your links with anchor text that has your keywords is the right way to optimize for SERPs. You need to create varied anchor text and use it in different links. Also, do not collect links from the same IP.
Consistent Linking
Although www.simplemoneystreams.com and simplemoneystreams.com link to the same place, it is different to Google. Having links separated to 2 different websites is the same as having power divided to 2. Be consistent when you are building links. Use the same format. And be consistent.
PageRank equals SERPs
Although Google has hundreds of factors that determines the SERPs, but PageRank is one of the most important factor. Google has said that PageRank is heart of all Google’s technology. And it’s the algorithm that ranks pages in Google. So having high page rank means Google is trusting your website.
How does PageRank work? Basically, there are 3 different main factors about PageRank
- Linking PageRank : The webpage that is linking to you, has a PageRank. The higher the PageRank, the better
- Number of outlinks in the page : The numbers of links that the webpage has. Basically, if the webpage has 10 links linking to other websites, you will have 1/10 of the share.
- Number of links to your website : The numbers of links are the direct impact on PageRank. Basically, the more links you have to your website, the higher your PageRank

In the past, SEO experts and DIY-ers have to check most of the things manually. And it takes hours just to check links. Today, there are a lot of tools that you can choose from. Most of them are paid tools but you can find some free tools online also.
These tools can help you check rankings, links and many more which reduce your load by a lot. The tool that I like the best is the Google Analytics. It help me analyze the traffic I have from Search Engines.
